Missed Birth Control?

I know this is in the wrong section, but you guys are much more helpful than the women’s health section
I’m on ortho tri-cyclen lo, and I’ve missed some pills, so I’m really nervous. I usually take my pill at 3:00 everyday, but I missed yesterday, and I just remembered (at 5:20) to take today’s pills. I went to their website to see what I should do, but I’m a little confused. I’m in week 3 (the dark blue pills) so if anyone could help me out, it’d be great. I think I’m supposed to take one pill a day until sunday, and then get a new pack, but I can only get my pills on wednesday, because of my insurance.http://www.thepill.com/thepill/aboutorth…

  1. Lots of doctors have sample packs or you can get packs at cost (I’m Canadian its $8-$12 last time I got them depending on the brand) from plannedparenthood, so that’s an option to get around insurance. It doesn’t have to be the exact brand some are basically the same.
If I’m reading your question correctly (hey I’m a mom so my brain is addled) you really only missed one pill:
Wednesday’s pill: you took Thursday at 5pm
Thursday’s pill: you took 2 hours late with Wednesday’s pill
I’m not entirely sure about ortho tri-cyclin low but I know that for progesterone only pills you realistically have a two hour leeway on the dose, for combination pills its normally more like 4-6 hours. So I wouldn’t worry too much about being two hours and 20 minutes latehttp://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-…
Taking the progestin-only pill at the same time each day is essential. If you take it more than three hours past the regular time, you need to use a backup method of birth control for 48 hours after taking the late pill.

  2. If you only missed 1 pill (yesterday’s) take both yesterdays and todays pill together today. So you will be taking 2 today and then tomorrow resume your regular schedule of taking 1 pill a day. You shouldn’t need back up birth control unless you’ve missed more than 1 pill. Good luck!

Use a condom until you are in the through with the first week of the new pack to be safe.

  4. I agree! Just be carefull until well into next month.
