Broke My Arm 2 Years Ago, Want To Start Working Out Again, Suggestions?

I want to get back into my workout routine from before I fractured my right humerus two years ago. Are there any tips on rehabilitation I should consider before I get back in any form of routine? I’m worried that I could damage something.
I had surgery to fix the bone. They inserted two titanium plates as well as 13 placing screws.
Thanks in advance.
Sean

  1. It depends on what type of workout you’re doing.
I fractured my leg, have a steel rod in there, and I still can’t run or hike for long distances without paying the price afterward!
I would say if you are working out and using heavy weights – work up a little at a time. If you build up the muscle around the bone, and the bone is healed, as long as you take it slow that should help you out.
    But, I’m no professional.
You should really call your doctor, the one who put in the plates, and ask their advice to be safe.

  2. First and for most I would contact a Doctor or an Exercise Physiologist as I am neither. I have gone through a wide array of exercise regiments with different goals and I have a serious back injury as well as arthritis.
    Check out http://www.crossfit.com.
    The advantages are:
    *Scalable – Particularly important.
*High intensity – The workouts aren’t long. Giving plenty of time for warmup (hint hint).
*Open Source – You should like that Mr. Ping.
*Broad Modality – It is a general fitness regiment not a “run forever” or “50 more crunches” mindset.
You can hit me up @KublaiKhan if you need more info. Remember to check with a doctor prior to ANY new physical regimen.
