Will The Gop Lose Without An Alternative Health Care Plan?

he McCain campaign’s senior economist said on Monday that the Republican Party will lose the health care debate unless it presents one, comprehensive alternative plan to compare with Democratic-led effort.
Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who was the main spokesperson on health care matters for the Arizona Republican during the 2008 presidential election, applauded individual Republicans for putting forth “good policies” that would promote individual markets for coverage. He even noted that there is a political benefit to simply opposing Democratic legislation.
But, he added, “I do think that it is beneficial for Republicans as a whole to have a consensus alternative… Collectively we lose if we don’t provide an alternative.”
Holtz-Eakin’s comments came during a telephone briefing with reporters on Monday, just one day after House Minority Leader John Boehner pledged that the Republican Party would produce an actual piece of legislation that would be scored by the Congressional Budget Office.

  1. Having actually read the “Reforms” that the Republicans have presented so far I can tell you they have NO real “Reform” only options to maximize the profits while throwing more people off of their Insurance.

  2. Would that plan include tax cuts for the top 1% and tort reform? LOL
    Good luck with that….

  3. The health care bill will not pass because elections is around the corner and they want to say in office. It is not going to get enough votes to pass.

  4. They have put forth five alternative plans with the most recent one being today. You just don’t hear about it bc the lame stream media blackballed the topic

  5. The American people want a change in health care . It’s fine that the Republicans disagree with the Democrats but they need to come up with alternatives . Sick Americans need help, now!

  6. No, although they’ve had one for a while.
America will lose with the Democrats’ plan, though.

  7. Let me put it to you this way…The Mustang Ranch was, at one time, the largest brothel in Nevada as well as being the first licensed bordello in that State.
After several years of tax shenanigans by the owner, the Mustang Ranch became the first (Official. Licensed.) brothel run by the United States Federal Government.
    They lost money.
Let us allow that simple, yet profound, truth sink into our synapses, shall we?
The Federal Government of the United States can not run a bordello and make money.
One cathouse. Just one. Not “one in every state”. Not “one whether you think you need it or not”. Just one single legal bawdy-house with an already-established customer base.
And they couldn’t keep it out of the red.
Now, this is just my opinion, but if your money-handling skills are so poor that you can’t even make a profit selling sex, then you have absolutely no business getting involved in more complicated financial areas.
In other words, if “Slam, bam, thank you ma’am, here’s a hundred bucks” is too complicated for you to make a profit, then you might just want to keep your meat-hooks out of, say — health care.
So, the next time some bright-eyed little bit starts chanting about “Universal Health Care”, I’m going to loudly and firmly opine that until the Federal Government is capable of running a profitable brothel … they’ve got no business trying to run my health care.
