Teen Birth Rate Rises In U.s., Reversing A 14-year Decline- Who’s Fault Is This?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/con…
After falling steadily for more than a decade, the birth rate for American teenagers jumped last year, federal health officials reported yesterday, a sharp reversal in what has been one of the nation’s most celebrated social and public health successes.
The birth rate rose by 3 percent between 2005 and 2006 among 15-to-19-year-old girls, after plummeting 34 percent between 1991 and 2005, the National Center for Health Statistics reported
… One in four teenage American girls has a sexually transmitted disease.
“We see a lot of random hooking up,” said Brittany Dowell, a West County high school senior.
Such casualness about sexual activity has taken the pressure off what was once a climactic prom decision — do it or don’t? — into a bit of a nonissue
Same-sex but not “gay”: many teens and young adults with same-sex attractions don’t want labes – especially of the “gay” or “lesbian” ki
Where are the parents?
The cause of most problems in the United States can be directly link to the lack of involvement of the Parents. Between working long hours and over time to single parent house holds. Compared to 50 years ago most parents have a minor role in their Children’s lives taking a back seat to TV and peer groups.
Why should schools educate Children on what would be the responsibility of the parents?
Considering the teen birth rate is rising most in areas that stick to “Abstenence Only” Sex Ed, and either falling or barely rising at all in areas that teach how to use contraception, I think it’s pretty flaming obvious just what’s to blame…
Unless you want to deny reality, of course….
“WHO CAUSED THIS IN SOCIETY?
Sure was not people of faith and morality”
Are you SURE? Because teaching them about WHAT gets them pregnant and providing the tools to avoid it sure isn’t the stance of people of faith and morality, either.
I would say it’s the fault of those who choose to have unprotected sex. Really now, in the US, there is no excuse for unprotected sex. EVERYONE knows better than that.
“Abstinence-only” sex ed.
You know, like “Don’t get hurt” first aid.
It’s called Abstinence Only Sex Education.
If we actually taught our kids about sex, this wouldn’t be a problem.
It’s also a failure in parenting.
Well, it was around 2004 that President Bush got his abstinence-only education budget increased in Congress. That’s a possible cause.
It is actually caused by the people who tell the schools that they better not teach their little darlings about how they came into the world.
Rev. Neil
Illuminati
Sure was. Abstinence only sex education is the cause.
Those 17 girls in Massachusetts, of course.
It’s caused by not exposing teens to condom use.
YES IT WAS!!!! It was those people of “Morality” who like to take sex ed out of school, and this is EXACTLY what GWB did so there you go hun, hope your proud of yourself!!!
So….you’re saying that lesbians are getting each other pregnant, then?
From, first-hand experience, I grew up in a Christian household so my mother never told me anything about sex and, surprise, surprise, I was pregnant w/in half a year of losing my virginity. Since then, I was ‘bombarded’ with education about pregnancy-causes and all the changes that occur and ever since, amazingly, I haven’t gotten pregnant again. And it definitely wasn’t b/c I quit having sex.
There seems to be a ‘phase’ of teens thinking it’s now the ‘cool thing’ to abstain and become Christian. Which always seems to correlate with a rise in teen pregnancy. Give them time…it’s always darkest before the dawn
I am a youth pastor and I find fault in three areas
1. Parents are not being parents anymore. The divorce rate is sky high even among Christians. They are not teaching Godly values and not taking them to church
2. Teens are to busy for God anymore. To much entertainment. Video games, computers, ipods, cell phones, music, movies, girl/boyfriends and sports
3. The church is not stepping up to its job anymore.
This is happened because people dont want to attach sex with emotions.
Sex should be a not strings attached thing…just another activity like…playing a game or soemthing
Test drive a car before buyign it etc just shows how low their moral has goen down.
What is wrong with abstienence?…..
One should not take sex casually it reflects a lot on how you grow up to be…one night stands, college experiments etc is just pulling us down.
children are exposed to so much sexual related media…..it jsut does not stop…as a parent it is oimportant to let your child know what is right and wrong how the desicons they make now will affect their life for ever
