Socialized Medicine Will Ruin This Country?
There are many who are totally against the governments involvement in health care, they feel the market will take care of itself. As insurance premiums continue to rise, and many senior citizens are forced back into the workforce in order to pay for medication, and people that paid their premiums on time find themselves being dropped by insurance companies.
Are we afraid of socialized medicine not because it may or may not work but a deeper fear of the U.S. ending up a communistic country?
Socialized medicine and the current US system of medicine both have their ups and downs…
I don’t think Socialized medicine will “ruin” America… people like that are just paranoid, I think change scares a lot of people. Change in any form to the “American way of life” will usually result in more people shouting that the world is going to end.
I believe that it’s a sin to profit from the misfortunes of others. The United States of America should be able to take care of all of its citizens without bilking any of them into bankruptcy. We need to re-think the obscene profit margins enjoyed by even the “non-profit” insurance providers. We can do better for ourselves and our citizens.
Socialized medicine, as it exists today, means that the healthcare industry must provide everything, down to menial things like bandaids and tylenol pills.
If health insurance were more like car insurance, covering accidents and other big-ticket items, the premiums would be lower and we could get on with life!
The current plan wants the government to have deep ability to go into your personal financial records and dictate what health care will be rationed out. This government controlled healthcare could end up being a Soylent Green scenario (check IMDB.com for the movie info).
As for those on SS, the government (Obama) has admitted that they may take up to 80% of the costs, and that end-of-life care might be dictated by the government… scary!!!
I am not afraid of socialized medicine… I am scared of the potential of the government will take away from us in controlling our lives in the attempt to “protect” us!
Like that other guy said, I just don’t want the government deciding if I’m sick enough to be taken care of. I might have considered being for it if someone else were president though. I honestly don’t think Obama can efficiently handle the health care system. It isn’t something you can screw up on and easily fix.
Well said. I think the people against it would be against anything the Dems tried to accomplish. I say this because of the lack of discussion or compromise. People seem to just be saying no instead of having a healthy debate.
Obama said it well too…”the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t know.” People are scared.
With all of the BS on the news, I do not know what is even in the healthcare plan.
However, i was always in support of swiss version of healthcare, it makes some sense, and is a good, moderate mix.
Thank God President Obama’s health care plan will pass in September and we will never have socialized medicine in this country.
I dont get why people are so opposed myself. I havent heard a real reason yet, just people going off about how it will “destroy the country!” Doesnt seem to have destroyed any other countries. Im honestly curious.
The less the government controls in this country, the less they can mess up. Look at the last 8 years in America.

Socialized Medicine won;t ruin the country, the country will still be there, but it’s what it could do to the population!! I am not saying Socialize Medicine is bad, IF run properly, in smaller countries, it can and does, in some cases, work! It would be nice if we could ALL pay ONE fee a month, and never have to worry about paying anymore for healthcare. Actually, if you sit down and think a minute, suppose, for years, you remain healthy, and only visit the doctor two or three times a year. sure, you are paying that fee whether you are sick or not. But then, something BAD happens to you. and you need an operation and possible some kind of expensive therapy, wouldn’t it be nice to know you don’t have to pay for it!? Operations today cost thousands of dollars, and it would only take one disaster to put you in the poor house. OUR problem with this kind of health Plan is, the people who want it to go into affect, are NOT thinking of the Nations health as a whole, they have another agenda, and it has nothing to do with medicine!! These guys are only in power for four years, and what they do now, will be dragged over for the next guy to deal with! They keep saying it’s going to cost trillions of dollars over the next ten years – THESE guys will be long gone by then, and probably basking in the sun on some off-shore beach!! It’s NOT THEIR money they are playing with, it’s ours!!
