See that all looks very pretty, but my greatest worry is my SATS… 1020 out of 1600!!! That’s god-awful. During the test, I had a bit of a freak out and without going into too much detail, did horrible on three sections. My last chance is december, and i have to raise it, I definitely know that. How much will the score affect my chances if I can’t though?
Another issue, is that I’ve had 6 C’s on my transcripts, but I think it’s pretty obvious I have chosen classes that challenged me, I never took a regular class but multiple college/AP classes so how will that balance out? In my favor or not so much?
I feel like I look better on paper than I really am, but that may be because my friends are incredible students (taking college classes such as Organic chem for fun!! and doing cancer research in their summer times)
Villanova is truly, all I want, I’ve actually never wanted something so badly, great campus, location, professors, students, business, undergrad, travel abroad, but please give me an honest idea as to my chances of getting in. What can I improve on? What is my weakness? What could be my potential downfall? From what I understand, Legacy is valued quite a bit? Will the fact that I’m from West Virginia help???

  1. You have a chance. You need to retake the SAT and study beforehand. Pickup a study guide like The Official SAT Study Guide by The College Board. I think you can get it from Amazon for about $10 or your school or local library should have it too. The C’s show average work; but not bad since they were in AP classes. Your unweighted GPA would be on the low side. The average freshman admitted last year had a GPA of 3.86%. At this point you can’t raise your GPA so concentrate on what you can do to improve your chances.
    1. Study and retake your SAT; maybe take the ACT, some do better on the ACT than the SAT.
2, Start writing your essay. Write a rough draft and put it away for a week. Take it out and revise it and put it away for another week. After 3-4 weeks you should have something that is really good. Have your English teacher review it too.
    3. Be thinking about which teacher(s) you want to write letters of recommendations for you. Give them plenty of notice before you actually need the letters. After you get the letters, write a nice thank you note to the teachers and mail the notes to them – do NOT just send them an e-mail: you might need them to write letters again. At this point you can back off a little on the extracurricular activities and spend the extra time on studying for the SAT which is the single biggest thing you have control over. Good luck!

  2. Did you even have to ask? Really?!
I think you have very good chances of getting in. Just make sure you do a good job on your application essay! (LOL)
