Is My Current Gpa, Etc. Good Enough For This College?
I’m currently a junior, and my GPA is a 3.96 (weighted). I’m taking a PreAP course over the summer, and 2 AP courses and 1 PreAP course next year (along with other regular classes), so if i can maintain straight A’s, my GPA will go over 4.0.
I’m ranked 157/654, and I’m in the top quarter in my class.
I got a 1790 on my SAT; 550 on Critical Reading, 550 on Math, and 690 on Writing. It was the first time I took it, and I’m retaking it on June. I’m also planning on taking Subject Tests later on.
I will have 200+ hours of volunteering by the end of my senior year. I’m not in any athletics, but I’m currently taking violin lessons. I’m also in National Honor Society at my school. I plan on joining Mu Alpha Theta (a math club) and HOSA (a health occupations club thing) next year.I am also considering in participating in research programs at colleges during the summer (my counselor told me i can do so)
I’m planning on majoring in Biochemistry at Texas A&M University-College Station. Do you think I qualify to enter this program at this college?
Please let me know. Thanks for your help!
At Texas A&M, if you are in the top 25% and have at least a 1300 on your SAT (Critical Reading+Math) with at least 600s on both, you are guaranteed admission. Although, this is not a guarantee of your major, which sounds rather competitive.
I would say that you certainly have a chance because schools will look for a well rounded student over one with a big gpa but no involvement. I wouldn’t count on it – but don’t count it out so IE: apply a few places
good luck!
