Don’t Those Pushing Obamacare Read Their Own Left Wing Press?

“While much of the media coverage has focused on right-wing criticism of the bill, there is also growing concern by advocates of [true] reform that the Obama administration has secretly made concessions to the healthcare industry and pharmaceutical industry.
A recent article in Business Week was titled “The Health Insurers Have Already Won.” The piece details how UnitedHealth and rival carriers have maneuvered behind the scenes in Washington and shaped health-care reform for their own benefit.
Meanwhile the Huffington Post has obtained a memo that shows the White House and the pharmaceutical lobby have secretly agreed to precisely the sort of wide-ranging deal that both parties have been denying over the past week.
The memo says the White House agreed to oppose any congressional efforts to use the government’s leverage to bargain for lower drug prices or import drugs from Canada—and also agreed not to pursue Medicare rebates or shift some drugs from Medicare Part B to Medicare Part D, which would cost Big Pharma billions in reduced reimbursements.
In exchange, PhRMA, the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers Association agreed to cut $80 billion in projected costs to taxpayers and senior citizens over ten years. On Thursday NBC reporter Chuck Todd questioned White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs about the White House-PhRMA deal.”
Given this, why would anyone want Obamacare, be they on the left or right? Requiring 300 million people to buy insurance product designed by the govt, whomever administers it, and the central feature of which will be compensation according to a govt designed ‘cost effectiveness’ standard which is made immune to challenge?
At least now if insurance companies shaft you, you can sue them.
And did you see Wonkette? Not that I typically would recommend it, but, really, ‘poison rat *****’?http://wonkette.com/410169/give-barack-o…

  1. This is indeed disturbing, but not surprising. Obama is a genius…. He has to be the smartest man to ever have that seat.
I guess the best thing we can do right now, is find someplace to do our job as citizens. Y/A is a good spot. Find another time slot with different people and repost it again. Post it as an answer. The more people we can help understand how evil and fiendish Obama is, the more senators and Congressmen will be too scared of loosing their seats and not vote for it.

“Med” rhymes with “Fed”… increasingly so.
    Call it Poetic Injustice.
Or, better yet, pull the plug.
    ‘-’

  3. Communists aren’t into facts just ideology. If they were, they would have heeded the warnings of the GOP back in ‘05 that an economic crisis was on the horizon because of the bad mortgages, but then Carter and Clinton’s bills would become news and hurt their agenda.

The people for Obamacare are confused morons.
They are Democrats on welfare who don’t pay taxes and want everything free.
Don;t say the word free in public, you will get attacked.
They go nuts over that word.
p.s I didn’t read those quotes, just your bottom question.

  5. How many of them do you think can read?

    no

  7. Read this website-http://www.politico.com/. They state the facts with no agenda, etc. If you and others like you still do not agree with reform, that is fine. But don’t listen to all of the crap and lies. It makes you sound ignorant.
    EDIT:
That is right, you need to read facts, and not be lazy like most health care opponents, who refuse to accept the facts. Example:
    ‘THERE IS A DEATH PANEL”..
No, there was counceling regarding health care directives and end of life counceling for those who choose it.
    ‘I DONT CARE-THERE IS A DEATH PANEL”

  8. As a matter of fact, we do. Unfortunately, there is no option except to compromise with the private insurance companies and drug industries. The special, multi-trillion dollar interests are entrenched and incredibly well-organized, and the choice is to bring them to the table or they completely kill health insurance reform. The entire health care system was established in a twisted way, and it will have to be rectified incrementally. The President operates in the real world of politics and not in the comfortable punditry of cyberspace.

  9. I still feel the key to all this is Congress. Health and insurance increased bribes, I mean donations up to $550 million last year, that’s over half a billion! Considering all lobbyists throw in $3.4 Billion then these guys are hard at it. This was an increase of 60% over 2007.
When you trace the problems we have they always end up right back with the senators and reps. Yes mortgages to folks that couldn’t pay them was bad, but who passed the legislation.
Since Cap Hill is mainly attorneys, they ought to help the people instead of the lobbyists. Reform in ways that can stop this will be a start. LIke the chairman of the financial committee cannot accept more than 30,000 from all total financial lobbyists, not $400,000.
People have a choice believe the bs from the two party system media giants or realize yo got to change out the crooks. All I here from them is yo get affordable insurance, you cannot be drooped, when you change or lose a job you will be able to take or existing insurance and also it will only cost “peanuts’. Two things they don’t mention is America has a ratio of 1-15 on illegal or undocumented workers, whereas German or Denmark are only looking at a 1-100 ratio, so yes their plans can easily cover that. I mean don’t people understand that hospitals are shutting down here du to this burden? Do they understand this burden will be put n their backs? Trust me they say 15 million can afford the insurance but don’t get it, the undocumented employee can also afford it as they get the going rate, but they and the employer don’t pay any taxes or FICA, much less unemployment insurance or workers compensation.
need something now to help ones that need the care now, not four years from now. Some say you have to do the whole thing in one deal cause it would take ten years if yo divide it up, but that’s nutty , this guy needs to set up committees to investigate Medicare, caid, how many actual Americans need the insurance and set up a program to cover the undocumented employee so the hospitals won’t go under.
They sure set up a program for mortgages Didn’t they? So lets stop beating around the bush what they want and most Americans want is low cost insurance that is driven by competition and can cross state lines, legal help for preexisting claims and also protection from being dropped and not given care and also insure ll the undocumented employees so the health Base doesn’t lose anymore hospitals.
If the government can give mortgages to people who shouldn’t have them and then prop up the banks, they they can surely prop up and help the hospitals that are having to get billions in free medical care to the undocumented and uninsured.
You know matter of fact they need to run the numbers on that and just create a fund to pay that. This would cover all groups and even the ones that can pay, whether legal or illegal and everyone else and the health care system gets their money. Not sure how, but now a doctor at a hospital may see ten patients on one floor and Medicare will be billed $160 per person, then Medicare cuts it in half and gives the doctor $80 for each one. Thing is unless the patients family is there, the doctor doesn’t go down adn say “Hey, how you doing”, no the doctor just goes to the nurses stations and looks at the log and if it looks ok, which it will as if there was a problem he would have been notified, then he leaves. I have seen docs that handle ten patients come and review and leave in less than 15 minutes, but are paid by Medicare $80 for each or $800 for 15 minutes of work. Same at nursing homes, doctor may have 50 patients, goes once a month reads up what the staff has written and is out in an hour, but gets $4,000.So there is a way and no one want to trust Congress on this one, so mr. President select committees to study each part and please make a big one to figure out relief for uninsured and the medical facilities that get ripped off.
