When DEMAND goes up so does ACTUAL COST that are borne by tax payers. Since the government intends to spend LESS on healthcare, LESS SPENDING WILL RESULT IN DRASTICALLY LESS SERVICES THAN AMERICANS CURRENTLY USE.
With economic hurdle to healthcare removed, there is very likely a shortage of available services. Instead of consumers rationing their own care, the administers of the new affordable healthcare will be in control of who gets what doctors when…..IS THIS THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND WHY MIDDLE CLASS PARENTS AND SENIORS STORMED INTO TOWNHALLS THIS SUMMER? Most seniors were raised in a free country and do not want the government interfering with yet another aspect of their lives. Obama wants control over everything proving once again that he is a Marxist. If he and his cronies take over health care, then 9 of Karl Marx’ 10 points outlined in “The Communist Manifesto” will have been met. The takeover of the banks and GM were Nos. 7 and 8 and the health system would be #9. The only thing left would be collective farms and I expect that will be Obama’s next project if he gets control of your health care. Liberals know exactly what they are doing. They are coverting America to Communism. That party shunned Hillary Clinton because she was too moderate for their takeover. The ruling class becomes the upper class in a Communist society. The price of healthcare going down would usually indicate a drop in demand. Thats economics 101. The other way around is a crazy opposite land version which isn’t true. Also if you make it to one of the later courses you would understand that the problem is that only sick people get insurance in general. SO premuims are driven very high making america more expensive that its low price and universal counterparts(i.e. In reality and outside of economic thoeries the price is lower. So your gospel of uneducated economics doesnt actually happen to be.) So in reality America has one of those things neocons are meant to hate: a large bureacracy that dictates treatments and gives little choice because it spends most of its bureacracy determining premuims and less paying for technology to heal. Its a market failure: pure and simple. And for evey horror story there is in the non-perfect healthcare systems in other countries there are much more of poeple left for dead in american style healthcare arrangements.

you fail to explain why prices generally drop. The general agreement is that prices drop when demand goes down. This is because when people demand something less they are more price sensitive so bussiness have no choice but to drop price so they don’t lose out in the market. Under your model you can’t explain why prices drop. And thats a pretty important omission because it doesn’t just magically happen.
Anyway Ophelia lets get back to REALITY. Wherein healthcare costs less with similar and superior services it is universal. and even if the healthcare results are similar the drop in cost for everyone means. What this should say to anyone with commonsense is when theory doesnt side with reality we should side with reality.
Rather than dreamt up republican nightmares that is. A little less political grandstanding and little more sound ideas about healthcare reform would be good. But so far rabble rousers have used every sob story they can find and pure and simple garbling of facts to make out results.
Socialized health care is going to kill the elderly with their death panels, further 1 in 5 people that go to socialized hospitals DIE while waiting in the hospital for care!!! Socialized health care = a socialism = Illuminati controlled news networks = NWO = Micro chips = FEMA death camps.

Well for starters “middle class parents & seniors” largely support the plan; it does not take away autonomy; and it is not even close to being radical.

You write as if you were an intelligent person, where are you getting your goofy ideas? The democratic proposals are not modeled on UK or on Canadian systems.
That said, will you have the courage of your convictions and refuse to participate in national health care or in social security when the are available to you? Will you?

I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts?
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2].
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3].
Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4]
Maybe that is because in the USA, insurance companies push up costs, buy politicians and refuse to pay claims that people pay for [5]. (Look up Wendell Potter on YouTube to hear more if the link below is too long.)
Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8].
Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare?
