Are You Really Ready For Obamacare?
Obama health care system, where the doctors and hospitals will all be working for the government, who will be paying their bills, not you the patient, who will just be along for the ride. When the government tells them not to provide medicine for macular degeneration, or cancer treatment for senior citizens because it is not “cost effective,” or referrals to specialists until it is too late, the doctors and hospitals will all hop to and salute, because they will be desperate for their slice of federal funding.
In this new system, everyone — patients, doctors, hospitals, etc. — will all be sacrificed for the “greater good,” as defined by the liberal left. Doctors and surgeons now refusing Medicaid and Medicare patients because the government won’t pay them enough will find the same government is refusing them adequate payment for everyone. Cost pressures will lead the government to clamp down more and more over time on payments to doctors, hospitals, drug companies, and other health providers. They will be vilified in the media just like the bank executives are now in regard to their traditional bonuses. As a result, investment will collapse in new hospital capacity and medical facilities, and development and adoption of new, cutting edge, health technologies and advanced, high tech, miracle drugs, sacrificing the interests of sick patients. This is how Canada got to the point where a hospital room could not be found in British Columbia for a mother experiencing accelerating birth contractions, and she had to be flown over the Rockies to the next state, Alberta, while giving birth, to find maternity care. Human capital will flee the health system as well, as older doctors retire early and new ones choose other professions instead, further constricting care for sick patients.
I hear ya, it will destroy America
As an RN for 16 years now, NO.. . I did not get into this business to provide people with their RIGHTS for the Government. . .
I’ll be getting out, and the nursing shortage will be getting worse. .
And No, I don’t recommend going into nursing AT ALL!
And that’s different from private care how?
no. it’s the last thing america needs.
I’m about as ready for it as going to the DMV.
What we need is maybe more regulations on health insurance but we don’t need the government running something else they know nothing about.
They don’t care what we end up with for insurance because they will never have to be on it. They will still have their excellent healthcare. If Ted Kennedy was an ordinary citizen on Obama healthcare he would not have gotten the healthcare he needed.
Obama keeps saying that everyone will be covered but there aren’t alot of people who believe that.
And what about the illegal immigrants? They shouldn’t be covered by a government run healthcare but they will still be using our emergency rooms and getting free care. We can’t win. Has anyone ever figured out how much the hospitals loose by giving illegal immigrants free healthcare? We could probably do a lot with that money.
Take the profit out of health care

Americans are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with the state of the nation’s health care system. A New York Times/CBS news poll released over the weekend showed that 85 percent of respondents said that the health care system needed to be fundamentally changed or rebuilt.
The survey also found that 72 percent would support a government-administered insurance plan, and that half of those questioned thought the government would do a better job than private insurers at providing medical coverage.
The reality, however, is that health care reform being promoted by the Obama administration, and being drafted and debated in the House and Senate, will not address the burning health care needs of millions of adults and children. The entire debate in the White House and Congress is framed from the standpoint of cutting costs, rationing care and defending the profits of the giant health care conglomerates.

Actually if you look at the French System you will see that it is possible to have government funded Health insurance without sacrificing choice and quality in healthcare. France has a system of public and private health care. In France they do not have a system of socialize medicine. Socialize medicine is where health professionals work for the government and care is free. In France employees pay 7.5% to SS and employers pay 12.5% of salaries to the health system. Its fairer and more likely to lead to universal coverage than a flat fee (where everyone has to pay the same high premium- thus preventing lower income persons from affording care).
France was rated #1 by the World Health Organization rankings of quality health care while the US ranked 37th. The US spends about $6096 per person a year and France about $3464 per person a year. (2004 stats) In France they live on average 3 years longer than in the US. France spends ave 10.4 of GDP while we spend more than 15% of our GDP on health care.
To debunk your final statement about Physicians fleeing the system and choosing other professions I give as part of my reference material an article written by Physicians for a National Health program which actually spells out how a National Health System like the one in France can work in the US.
The French system is similar to the US in many ways. Most Doctors have a private practice. They have both publicly funded and private hospitals. Two major differences exist. The medical schools in France are almost tuition free so physicians don’t have the large school loans they have here in the US, thus are not compelled to seek enormous salaries to cover the cost of loan payments. The Health Insurance system is not for profit – like how it was in the US in 1920’s with Blue. Take the profit out of health insurance, save money…its that simple.
I would add that your premise that doctors would flee a national health system because they can’t make enormous sums of money suggests that these doctors are only in medicine to get rich quick. I would surmise that most Americans wouldn’t want doctors in charge of their health who were only motivated by greed. Given a good salary of several hundred thousand dollars a year I’m sure we could find excellent compassionate doctors.

This is just another in a long line of issues that Obama will be moonwalking his way over the Constitution about. Bail outs are one, nationalizing the auto industry is another.
The real question under all this: Is the government and Obama himself ready for the influx of the masses should nationalized health care hits the stage. Think soccer riots in Europe. Something like this should enrage the people like they are being enraged in Iran.
