What kind of a sorry life can one expect after undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for throat cancer? And what is the life expectancy of one so afflicted?

  1. My grandfather had to have the majority of his tongue removed. At that point he had to drink his dinner. He ended up staying alive for 8 or 9 years after the surgery and died of a heart attack. So It is a very manageable disease. It is hard to go through but I would imagine the survival rate is very good since it is usually caught in the early stages.
