What are some good moist food ideas for cancer patient?
My dad is terminally ill with cancer, and the only thing for food he is worried about is sodium content. We need some ideas for food that can be very wet because his mouth and throat is very dry from water pills. Examples are French dip, food with lots of gravy, soups, etc. He is just getting tired of the same old thing. If you all have some ideas that would be very helpful to him.
So sorry. I went through this with my Mom, Dad, and Grandma.
This time of year go for soups, stews, mac-n-cheese. Make the mac-n-cheese home made that way you can control the salt. Add an egg or two to the cheese base this will add some more protein and some more calories. Pot roast is good because you can make extra gravy serve with noodles as well as the potatoes.
Try pastas I hope he does not have a problem with the acidity of a tomato sauce. If so go with an alfredo sauce. Pasta with a cheese and olive oil is very good just add some steamed veggies and possibly some chicken. I would use dark meat chicken as it is moister, if possible poach or steam the chicken to keep the moisture.
Good luck.
Oh that is awful. Does he like soups there are so many lovely tasty ones you can easily make. Custard with stewed fruit, yogurt, milk puddings, angel delight. Loads of those packets to add to milk.
God Bless Him.

Joanna Lund wrote a lot of cookbooks that control salt content and I think would fit your needs as stated. that website is www. healthyexchanges. com
i am so sorry. I think of chicken broths. Maybe smoothies from fruit. Special made juices with beets and carrots (you always add silken tofu for more protein)
I know from experience how hard it is to have a parent so sick. I’m sorry to hear it. This might be good for him to eat.
