There are many types of cancer and as many causes and preventions. Diet alone is not the answer. For example, sunburns and family history related to skin cancers. Exposure to radiation related to Thyroid cancers. Smoking or chewing tobacco. Various drugs you might take to prevent other life threatening disease also increase chance of some cancers. Genetic/family history. STD's
The bottom line is live a health lifestyle, good diet, avoid unhealthy behaviors, be aware of changes in your body and you will put the odds in your favor.

I might be wrong, however I do believe it is not so much what you eat, as what you do not eat that makes you ill (cancer included). By this I mean - one rises every day eating chicken, fries and cabbage - 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year. Anther has 120 different foods inclusive of chicken fries and cabbage to chose from. He starts out with chicken, fries and cabbage on day one, and each day he gets up choosing 3 different foods, that are different from the ones he had the day before. 41 days later he eats chicken, fries, and cabbage again. Which of these persons would benefit from more nutrition? Which of these persons would be in better health? They both had chicken fries and cabbage, don't they? Yet the one that spreads his meals across 120 different foods would be in better health.
It follows then that the best way to protect yourself from cancer or any other illnesses, is to eat a very wide variety of fruits, vegetables inclusive of green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, sea foods inclusive of sea vegetables, complex carbohydrate such as yams, potatoes, dasheens etc., and meats - eat all natural foods available to you. Eat foods raw where possible. Many persons do not know that pumpkin and Irish potatoes can be shredded and eaten raw just as you do carrots and other vegetables. Fresh raw foods are more nutritious.
Use herbs such as thyme, scallion, onion, chive, garlic, pepper (hot and sweet pepper), peppermint etc as seasoning for your meat or steamed vegetables.
Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water each day.
Make sure your bowel is free. Have at least one bowel movement per day.
Natural foods boost your immune system, your immune system destroys cancer cells as they are formed. As long as your T cells, and other immune cells responsible for destroying cancer cells, are not overwhelmed, you'd have a lower risk of developing malignant tumors (cancer).
Supplements also helps to lower your risk of developing cancer.
