  2. There have been incredible advances. I sit on a patient advisory committee, and in the four years since I had breast cancer, treatment has advanced enormously.
On http://www.after-cancer.com you will see some of the newest advances – but these are only mentioned if they are tried and tested. Unfortunately, for every break-through, there are a thousand theories that sadly don’t work.
One day, like polio, there must come a preventative for cancer – let’s pray it is soon.

  3. there have been many advances in the past few years, and many more are currently in the clinical trial stage. I would advise looking at cancer.gov as well as the NIH and the American Cancer Society websites.
There have been many new surgical and medical advances made in the past number of years for any number of cancers. I think those sites are a good start. If you have access through a local university to the PubMed library you can try searching there as well for more medical journal articles.

  4. Yes there have been advances in treatments based more on every six months than every few years. It is difficult for doctors to stay current which is one of the problems with our healthcare system in the US. The best cancer centers to go to in the US are the Designated Cancer Centers from the National Cancer Institute. All these facilities treat hundreds of different cancers, do the research, test the treatments, and offer what is most current for that type of cancer. They share information with each other . .

If you are looking for current information about clinical trials they are published by the American Society of Clinical Oncologists:http://www.asco.org/ASCO/Abstracts+%26+V…
You can check out current research at NCI:http://resresources.nci.nih.gov/category…

  5. Yes there has. A simple search will show they’re finding gene responsible for certain cancers, drugs that will pass the blood brain barrier, new treatments, new surgical procedures, new vaccines.
BTW, lynn, stop spamming. That’s a stupid site.
