Does Smoking Marijuana Have The Same Or Worse Effects, As Far As Getting Cancer, As Cigarettes?

I was told that by smoking marijuana you can get cancer too. Is lung cancer caused by the smoke or the chemicals in what you are smoking?

  1. There has never been one single case of marijuana causing any form of cancer. In addition a fairly recent study by Dr. Donald Tashkin demonstrates that there is no link between marijuana and lung cancer.
While the smoke composition is fairly similar (a burning plant is a burning plant after all), it is believed that THC has an anti-carcinogenic effect which is why we haven’t witnessed any marijuana related lung disease.

  2. Tobacco, no matter how it is consumed, causes cancer. Smoke can cause cancer too, but at a slower rate. However, marijuanna has several chemicals which FIGHT cancer. So actually lung cancer rates among people who ONLY smoke weed (and not tobacco) are lower than even people who just live in polluted big cities and don’t smoke anything.

  3. marijuana does not cause lung cancer but has shown to have cancer fighting abilities
