		<description>Sounds like maybe you are fair-skinned, and should probably get your sun exposure in smaller segments.  Like a half hour to an hour at a time.  If the red mark is on the spot that your strap was, it may have been too tight or if it was a new swimsuit it could have been a reaction to the dyes used to color the garment.  
But to answer your actual question, NO you cannot get skin cancer  from tanning in the sun just a few times a week.  I don&#039;t recommend 3 hour sessions though.  And once you achieve the desired level of tan, you may want to reduce your exposure level even more by covering up or using natural sunscreen such as aloe vera gel.  
Your body actually needs some sunlight daily, it helps keeps your bones strong.
